- Confirm that your device is on the latest version of its operating system (OS) and that you are using the latest version of the Oura App
- Place your ring on its charger
- If the charger's LED turns blue or red, see our Troubleshooting Charging Issues page for further steps
- Connect your phone to its own charger to ensure all power saving features are disabled
- Place your phone next to the ring
- Turn off your device's Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi can interfere with Bluetooth in certain cases) and make sure that there are no other radio-powered devices nearby such as laptops, wearables, wireless headphones, etc.
If the above steps do not restore connection:
- Try deleting the Oura App and reinstalling it
- Restart your phone
If you are using an Android device running Android 11 or older, you will need to enable location services for Bluetooth connectivity to work:

Bluetooth Reset
Resetting your device's Bluetooth may help restore connection between your ring and the Oura App:
- Keep your ring on its charger with the power connected
- Turn off your phone’s Bluetooth
- Force close the Oura App (ensure that it is not running in the background)
- Re-enable Bluetooth
- Go to your phone’s Bluetooth settings and remove your ring from the list of connected devices
- Open the Oura App and follow the instructions to re-pair your ring
If a Bluetooth reset doesn't restore connection, you can also try a hardware reset or advanced troubleshooting for Android devices.
Hardware Reset Using a Corded Charger
To initiate a hardware reset:
- Keep your ring on its charger
- Tap the charger firmly and rapidly a few times on a table, keeping the ring in place with the help of your finger (shown below)
- Wait approximately one minute, then re-open the Oura App to check if the connection is established
It may take several attempts for the hardware reset to activate, so please try these steps a few times.

Differences between Android versions and device manufacturers can have an impact on Bluetooth connectivity, so there are several additional settings to check on your phone:

- Under "Privacy," tap Location
- Select Advanced
- Select Scanning
- Enable Bluetooth scanning
Battery Saver
- Go to your phone's Settings
- Select Battery
- Select Battery saver
- Turn off battery saver
App Data Usage
- Go to your phone's Settings
- Select Network & Internet
- Select Data usage
- Select App data usage
- Select the Oura App
- Tap the Background data switch to toggle it off or on
App Permissions
- Go to your phone's Settings
- Select Apps & notifications
- Select App Permissions
- Tap Bluetooth to see which apps have permissions to use it
- Tap the switch to turn the permission on for Oura, if not already enabled
Alternatively, in some Android versions, you may be able to see all the permissions an app requires by locating it from an application list. Locate Oura on the list and ensure that all of the permissions are enabled for it.
Permissions for Nearby Devices
If you are using Android 12 or higher, you'll need to enable permissions for nearby devices before Bluetooth will connect:
- On your phone, open Settings > Apps > Oura App
- If "Oura App" is not displayed, tap See all apps, then choose the Oura App
- Tap Permissions > Nearby devices > Allow
